Abstract
The article is intended to show how University Education has
contributed to political development in Africa. It begins by
discussing the role of University Education in political
development in the world. It traces such development from the
period of Ancient Greece up to the 20th century. The article
examines how University Education contributed to the rise of
African nationalism by citing how most African nationalist
leaders had received University Education. After that, the
article makes a discussion of how such education contributed to
the process of nation-building in Africa. Lastly, the article
provides an analysis of how University Education contributed
to the democratization process and the building of multi-party
democracy.
