Welcome to one of the founding faculties of this University, since as you aware, the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT) is one of the founding teaching faculties at RUCU. The others are the Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of Arts and Social Science. It started in the academic year 2005/2006 when it enrolled its first batch of 23 Computer Science degree students and of those 21 obtained their degrees in 2008.
I welcome you with much pleasure to come and learn at the RUCU Faculty of Information and Communication Technology.
When RUCO started in 2005, the FICT had just 3 fulltime academic staff which has grown to 27 now, an increase of at least 800%. Most of these staff are in various stages in their academic progression studying their Masters and PhD studies in many different universities. This makes the faculty a very dynamic place to study ICT because you get to feel the different flavours of ICT from the different universities (UDSM, UDOM, NM-AIST, MZUMBE, CHINA, TURKEY PHILIPNINES, etc). As the majority of these staff members are young, the faculty is confident it has a very good foundation for the future.
Iringa is also a good place to study since it has a good climate and the town custom is centred on student life because of the great universities within it. I look forward with real expectation to the opportunity of working with and learning from each of you during your time at RUCU. Karibu Sana!!
